There is not nearly enough cynicism available on the www these days. I have pounced onto the information superhighway, albeit a little late to the party. With so many ahead of me who have actual talent, I intend to stay behind the leaders and draft. That puts me in the slipstream and I am not so much here to protect. I am here to serve, baby.

September 2, 2007 Three Score and One Year Ago
Truthfully, I have no idea if that represents 31 years ago or not. I made it up.
A friend of mine said it was very "Virgo" of me to arrange my wedding anniversary to always fall the day after my birthday.
Thinking back on it, I don't really think so. I have never subscribed to horoscopes. They always appeared to me to be just another form of entertainment. Fine with me. But, way back in 1976, Cheri and I had just graduated from college. We both had new jobs and we were both working about 50 or 60 hours a week. In fact, I was travelling about 20 days a month from Denver to various destinations in California. Looked to me like a great time to complicate our lives by getting married. I was way stupider then.
When I verbally trapped her into agreeing to marry me, we took a look at the calendar. Neither of us wanted a big wedding, so the restriction of lots of lead time for planning was simply not necessary...to us. We had not broken the news to our mothers yet.
Since we both were 21 years old and we both had new jobs, there were no vacation days on either of our horizons. The calendar revealed a Monday in early September that we both appeared to have off from work. Something referred to as "Labor Day." Even Cheri's "Leo" mind could grasp that a three day honeymoon was better than a two day honeymoon. So, Friday, September 2 became our wedding day for planning purposes. Working with a twenty person limit, including us and our six immediate family members, there were not a lot of additional invites to issue. It is okay. I will do the math for you. There were twelve people we could invite...total. But first, we had to tell our mothers that the plans were set.
The telling was no problem. Acceptance of our plans was met with extreme resistance. One month to plan a wedding and a dinner for twenty people? Nobody believed it could happen except me and Cheri.
It did. It was great. To my thinking, Virgo or Leo or any other celestial ghost had nothing to do with it.
The day after I turned 22 years old and 32 days after Cheri turned 22 years old, we got married and had a three day honeymoon.
It stuck.
Thirty one years and counting.
I would do it again anytime you want, Cher.

Fifty one years ago yesterday? This old Virgo was two years old
and lounging around the family pool preparing myself for this life
of leisure and care-free-edness. Still preparing. It could happen.
It would be a better world if we all carried the family pool around
with us in the car. Something to consider.
September 18, 2007 Pacific Northwest and Back
Sometimes I will put myself through torturous mental exercise. For instance, to pick only five photographs that properly represent our trip to the Pacific Northwest of the USA and British Columbia.
Only five. I could not do it.
If you like these five, go to my flickr page (link at the bottom of this page) to see them all. It will make you glad. Well, it made me glad.
