There is not nearly enough cynicism available on the www these days. I have pounced onto the information superhighway, albeit a little late to the party. With so many ahead of me who have actual talent, I intend to stay behind the leaders and draft. That puts me in the slipstream and I am not so much here to protect. I am here to serve, baby.

My paternal grandmother had this studio portrait made in the summer of 1917. She was 23 years old in this photo. This is the
photograph that my grandfather carried with him to war in France and Germany beginning in the fall of 1918. We know this
because he told us about it. That fact is one of the few stories he was ever willing to talk about when it came to the war. He
returned to Texas with his unit in the early summer of 1919 after the war had ended. They married in December, 1919.

Yesterday, #4 ranked TCU played #16 ranked Utah in football at Amon Carter Stadium at TCU in Ft. Worth. In my four years as
a student there in the mid-1970s, TCU won five games. Seriously. So, this was my first time ever to see a game in a sold out
stadium. This level of excitement on campus is something I had never seen before. They lived up to their billing, defeating
Utah 55-28. The bottom photo is of Amon Carter Stadium in 1951.
